Happy 30th, Baby!!!

Today, the love of my life turns 30!!! Happy Birthday, Travis!!!

I can't tell you how thankful I am for this day... the day that a very brave 16 year old girl chose to give you life, in spite of a difficult situation and made an even more courageous decision to allow an adoption to the family God had predestined you to join. A wonderful christian couple who had prayed, hoped and anxiously awaited your arrival for 7 years! How could that brave teenager have known that the little boy she just gave birth to would later have an adoring wife who would write about her courage & unselfishness with all the thankfulness in her heart for the vessel of life that she provided. Thank you, John & Becky for the love, example, support, prayer and discipline in the heart of a child that developed such an incredible man, husband, partner, friend and soon-to-be father that Travis has become! How very fortunate I feel to be the recipient of such a priceless blessing, to get to partner in this life with you, to have been chosen as the wife of your youth and the mother of your children! We've shared so many wonderful adventures together...the greatest of which is just a few weeks away!!! My cup overflows!!!

Cy's Nursery Update...

My fabulous mother-in-law and I spent several hours on Thursday applying a scripture using vinyl letters to the wall above Cy's crib. I LOVE the way it turned out!!! Thanks so much, Gran!!!! Another big THANKS to our sweet friends, the Johnstons whose son, Ranger's nursery provided the inspiration for the scripture. I tried very hard to come up with a bible verse that would be unique to our son, but Chad & Miranda...the scripture that you chose is absolutely perfect for a little boy!

Mom and I have ordered the fabric for the nursery curtains and window seat; and hopefully, I can sweet talk my hubby into putting up the iron chandelier soon. We're having so much fun!!!

How your baby's growing:Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

I'm scheduled to see Dr. Owen again next week for a check-up & glucose screening. I have absolutely LOVED being able to feel Cy's movements & kicks throughout the day, and as a nice Valentine's Day surprise...Travis got to feel several kicks from the outside of my belly! 16 short weeks to go!!!

And for those of you who don't know, my brother, Cal & his wife, Davida are expecting their first child whose due date is 6 days behind me! They found out recently that they will be welcoming a sweet little girl, Joey Madison. Cy will have so much fun with his cousins, Ellie (Randers) & Joey....he's destined to be surrounded by beautiful women! :)

Bump Watch...

Okay, so I was a bit of a late pregnancy bloomer- didn't "pop out" until about 18 weeks...but Cy & I are definately making up for lost time! YOWZA!!! Our little bambino now weighs about 11 oz. and is the size of a banana from head to toe.His ever-expanding mama is measuring right on schedule for our due date of June 6th. Clearly, from the belly shot below, most of my weight gain thus far seems to be localized to my "B & B" (boobs & bump ;). Cy Wesley has been a very active fella lately...what fun it is to feel his movements getting stronger & more frequent! Can't wait to meet our little man! So here you go...my belly shot @ 21 weeks.

Cy's New Nursery

Mom & I had such a blast purchasing Cy's new crib bedding & accessories for his nursery today! I'm not really a "theme" girl, but fell in love with this adorable vintage race car themed bedding set for our little man. I'm extremely pleased with the way that everything has come together- Thanks Mom!!! The nursery is currently a work in progress, but it's looking good so far. Here's a sneak peek...

IT'S A BOY!!!

Travis and I are extremely proud to announce that we will be welcoming a sweet baby boy in June! Cy Wesley Epperson is now weighing in at 10 oz & is roughly 6 inches long. His brain, heart, blood supply & vital organs were thoroughly checked during today's sonogram and all systems appear to be in perfect working order. Praise God!!! Travis has loved the name Cy since we met 10 years ago & Wesley is in honor of Travis' late grandfather, Charles Wesley. Needless to say, my sweet hubby is walking a bit taller today! Here are a few sonogram pictures of our handsome little man...

Oh, Happy Day!!!

Wow...19 weeks have flown by! I can't believe we will get the opportunity to find out the sex of our little bambino TOMORROW!!!! Oh, Happy Day!!! Our nugget has been quite the "mover & shaker" this week! It's so amazing to feel him/her wiggle & flutter about. I actually felt the baby's first substantial kick today...or maybe it was a left hook or jab :) I absolutely LOVE being pregnant...every day, it just gets better & better. I've heard remarks such as these can be contributed to 2nd trimester euphoria and will soon be replaced with complaints of heartburn, back aches, baby kicks to nearby ribs, etc. As for now, I am enjoying & extremely thankful for every new experience of this miraculous event. And yes...I now have a baby bump that I am incredibly proud of! Here's the most recent belly pic @ 19 weeks (well, almost).



I'm also including some random house pics for those of you who have asked to see them. We have loved our new home in Lubbock and are thrilled that almost all of the fabulous updates that you will see were completed prior to our arrival.
