Rubba...Dub...Dub

Our precious baby boy is 9 weeks old and gets sweeter & more and more fun by the day! We are working toward consistency in our daily schedule and he's been sleeping a whopping 7 hrs at night!!! Such a thoughtful & considerate little man! Here are a few things that Cy Wesley is up to at 9 weeks...

** Bath time has quickly become one of our favorite times of day! Cy LOVES his baths- babbling and grinning the entire time!

** Mommy's favorite time of day is the first morning feeding. Cy has started waking up in a great mood...cooing and smiling. The look in his eyes when he sees me and the grin he shoots my way absolutely melt my heart! He kicks his chubby little legs and raises his arms in anticipation of being rescued...PRICELESS!!!

** Like I said, Cy is now sleeping 7 hrs consistently at night...which I proudly consider "sleeping through the night". He is given his last feeding at 10 pm and usually wakes for an early morning snack about 5 am...quickly returning to sleep until 8:00. It's amazing how well this mama can function on a few more hours of rest!

** He started sleeping in his crib at 8 weeks...and transitioned beautifully! It was a bit harder transition for mom!

**Loves his Rainforest Peek-a-Boo Waterfall Soother that is attached to his crib.

** Has discovered his tongue and loves to play with it which often results in a bit of drooling. He will try to mimic me when I stick my tongue out at him!

** As of late, we've been visited by the "45 minute intruder"- Cy wakes up 45 minutes into his nap and needs some help getting back to sleep (which mom happily obliges).

** Is growing more hair- much to my delight. He was starting to get the dreaded "old man ring" around the lower portion of his little head. But his bald spots are quickly being replaced by adorable blonde "fuzz" that is growing in quite nicely. He has such a pretty shape to his head.

** His favorite songs are "Jesus Loves Me", "The Wise Man" and "Itsy Bitsy Spider".

** Overall, he is a wonderful, very happy baby boy who we are constantly amazed by and fall deeper in love with every day!

Bumbo Boy...

We gave our Bumbo chair a try for the first time yesterday and Cy loved it! He's gotten really good at holding his head up & thoroughly enjoys checking out his surroundings. Other milestones we're working on include; following objects from side to side, bearing weight on his strong little legs, grinning and cooing more and more, spending time on his activity gym mat, starting to have conversations with mom in his own little language and I am proud to announce that he is now sleeping 4-5 hour stretches at night consistently...yea!!! His 2 month well check and vaccinations are scheduled for this Thursday (ugh...Poor fella!)- so I'll be able to update his stats soon.

Being read to by Papa... My two handsome men on Sunday morning...
We have a couple of big praises this week...my cousin, Kara had a sweet baby girl, Hannah Mae on Thursday. She is beautiful and mom and baby are home and doing well. Our family has been so richly blessed this summer...3 healthy and precious babies have been born to the Hughes/Zant clan in the past 7 weeks!!! Also, my dear friend, Kami gave birth to a beautiful little angel, Emory Lea on Sunday! Whew...we've had a busy summer with all the baby showers and births to family and friends that we've enjoyed. God is oh, so good! Welcome to the world little ladies!

Here are a couple sample pictures from Whimsy Photography of Cy & Joey's photo shoot last week. They did such a fabulous job!!! The photo shoot was a gift for Cy & Joey's new grandfathers and great-grandfathers for Father's Day from Mimi. Thanks Mom!!! I can't wait to see the rest of the proofs...more pictures to come!

If You're Happy & You Know It...

Cy Wesley has been so much fun lately! His newest trick is to flash this adorable little grin at mommy that absolutely melts my heart...such a happy little boy! But don't take my word for it- you can see for yourself...

Look at that dimple!

And then just some photos of his sweet little features...I can't get enough of this guy!

I love this picture!!!

Big Boy!

Cy had a pediatric appointment last Wednesday to eval & remove a very stubborn umbilical cord stump- we were interested to see how much he weighed since his last "weigh in" was at 2 weeks. We were all surprised to discover that our little man has gained 2 1/2 lbs in 3 short weeks!!! At 2 weeks, he weighed 6 lbs 15 oz and at 5 weeks, was 9 lbs 6 1/2 oz!!! Clearly, he is a very healthy boy...as his chubby cheeks, double chin and ever multiplying rolls will attest to! We have officially moved into 0-3 months clothing and are trying to finish up the last few newborn diapers on hand before we start using the size 1 variety.
Cy has become quite a fan of walks around the park, quality naps in his bouncy seat, ceiling fans, tummy time and is "learning" to appreciate evening baths (he does love his post-bath massage). He's also been practicing using his sweet little hands and fingers to grip his WubbaNub pacifier, mommy's shirt, etc. It's so fun to watch as he learns and becomes more aware of the world around him every day!
Here are a few photos of his favorite pass times at nearly 6 weeks old...

Enjoying some attention from his Great-Grandad Hughes

We spent the 4th of July weekend with Travis' family in Lakeway (outside of Austin) on Lake Travis. We were able to enjoy some fabulous BBQ at Cooper's in Llano (one of our favorites) & a few wonderfully relaxing days in the Hill Country. We visited Travis' grandma who lives in nearby Buda & introduced her to the newest members of our family.
