HaPpY BirThDAy, CY WeSLeY!!!

Well, it happened...just as so many wise parents that have come before me said that it would. One year ago, we welcomed our precious Cy Wesley into this world and here I sit one year later amazed by how much joy our son has brought to our lives, by how very much that life has changed and yet how quickly the months have passed. Travis and I are so very thankful that God chose us to love, shepherd & guide this sweet baby boy! Here are a few new things that Cy is doing at ONE YEAR OLD!!!

He's WALKING!!! Yes, I can now proudly declare him a walker. Cy can put together 7-8 steps at a time and is opting to walk rather than crawl more and more every day. He's still a bit wobbly, but gaining confidence by the minute.

Loves to give mom a hand: turning off and on light switches, unloading the dishwasher, scoping out the refrigerator, opening and closing cabinet doors, reorganizing shelves...such a good little helper! So much to discover...so little time.

Enjoys leafing through books by himself. He will spend 20 minutes alone in his room pulling all of his books off of the bookshelf and looking through them. Hopefully, this will translate into a love of reading as a child and adult.

Has a grand total of 8 teeth- upper & lower centrals and laterals.

We've started mixing whole milk in with his formula. Cy takes 3- 6 oz bottles a day at breakfast, lunch & dinner. Has a sippy cup of water or juice with meals which he holds by himself.

Have transitioned completely to table food. Some of his favorites are bean burritos, turkey wienies, green beans, mash potatoes, mac & cheese, grilled chicken, bananas, peaches and strawberries. He has actually been quite the trooper when trying new foods...is not always a fan on the first try, but by the second or third attempt, he eats like a champ.

Still takes 2 naps a day...and I will guard those naps as long as I can! Goes down for AM Nap between 9:30-10:00 & usually sleeps 1-1.5 hours. Then takes a 1.5-2 hour nap in that afternoon around 1:30-2:00. Bedtime is between 7:30 & 8 pm & he wakes up around 7 am.

He is becoming socially savvy & such a sweetie! Loves to give kisses, can 'high five' & waves bye-bye on a consistent basis (that one took us a while).

All in all, he has & continues to bless our lives in more ways than we could have possibly imagined and we couldn't love him more! HapPy BirTHdAy, Cy WEslEy!!!

12 Week Sonogram...

Baby Epperson #2 was given two very enthusiastic thumbs up at today's sonogram. Our sweet little nugget is growing quickly and appears to be developing perfectly. Thank you, Lord! The baby was quite the wriggle worm during the sonogram which provided for some great views. I can't wait to be able to feel all of those amazing movements. Baby Jack or Lila is measuring 2 1/2 inches from crown to rump and is roughly the size of a lime! His or her profile looks a lot like Cy's did at 12 weeks. Dr. Hales didn't spot any boy parts this time around...but again, gave me strict instructions NOT to buy anything sex-oriented just yet. I am scheduled for another sonogram in 4 weeks (I'll be 16 weeks along), and again at 20 weeks...so hopefully, we'll find out whether Cy will have a little brother or sister then!

Back of head & ear...

Speaking of Cy Wesley...my precious baby boy will turn ONE TOMORROW!!! How can it be?!? One year ago, today, I was cleaning house, baking banana bread and preparing for our induction that was scheduled for the 28th. Little did I know that in a few short hours, my water would break, much commotion & excitement would ensue and 12 hours later, Travis and I would welcome our handsome son into the world. Without question, the absolute BEST day of my life!!!

Our Little Monkey is Turning ONE!!!

Just to clarify, this is not a mass invite ;) We are actually just having a small gathering of family to celebrate Cy's big day. But, I wanted you all to see the invitation that was designed for us....I think it turned out really cute! We are hosting a sock monkey themed party...which should be lots of fun. I CANNOT believe that we are gearing up for our baby boy's FIRST BIRTHDAY!!! And yes, this is not the first and will certainly not be the last time that those words come out of my mouth between now and May 27th. Cy Wesley, you have brought more joy to our lives in the past year than your papa and I could have ever imagined, and we are thankful daily that God chose us to be your parents! We love you so much!!!

Next week promises to be very busy. In addition to getting ready for Cy's party, I have my first OB appt with Dr. Owen on Monday, our 12 week sonogram on Wednesday, and Cy's 1 year well check exam & vaccines on Friday morning...whew! I can't wait until Wednesday to get to see our little nugget again and hopefully, get a clue as to whether Cy will have a baby brother or sister. They were able to tell that Cy was a boy at his 12 week sonogram (although, I was given strict instructions not to buy anything sex-oriented until after it was confirmed at 18 weeks). I have been feeling great...very little nausea & much more energy the past week or two! I certainly popped out quite a bit quicker this time around. I'm measuring about where I was with Cy at 15-16 weeks! I'll post my 12 week belly shot along with our sonogram pictures next week.
