A Year of Answered Prayers....

One year ago today, was the due date of our first pregnancy that ended in miscarriage. And, one year ago today, we found out that we were pregnant with our precious Cy Wesley!!! What a tremendous year it has been filled with innumerable answers to prayer. It's truly amazing and humbling to look back and see God's hand at work through times of heartache & pain, as well as unimaginable joy! God is so good!!! What a privilege to serve an active, living and powerful God who gives so generously & abundantly, in his perfect time! I am often comforted and encouraged by the words of a song by Casting Crowns that says,

I was sure by now, God, that you would have reached down
and wiped our tears away
stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say amen
and it's still raining
As the thunder rolls, I barely hear you whisper through the rain,
"I'm with you."
and as your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away.
___________________________________________________
And I'll praise you in this storm and I will lift my hands
for You are who You are
no matter where I am
and every tear I've cried,
you hold in your hand
you never left my side
and though my heart is torn, I will praise you in this storm.

Okay, following that great big praise...here are Cy's 4 month stats:
Head Circumference: 16.3" (50%)

Weight: 14 lbs 15 oz (55%)

Height: 25.7" (90%)!!!!

After a few minutes of crying accompanied by great big alligator tears following his vaccinations, Cy perked right up & is now napping comfortably. Mom, on the other hand, is still a bit shaken. I have a feeling that shots are going to grow increasingly difficult until Cy is old enough to be comforted by the promise of a special treat afterward. I am, however, so thankful for the protection they provide.

4 months and counting...

Cy Wesley is now 4 months old!!! It's difficult to resist adding..."I can't believe it" behind each month marker. The months are flying by even though our days are filled with so much learning and laughter! Cy has become really interactive & I am reminded often by everyone around me just what a sweet, EASY baby he truly is. I am trying to enjoy this fact, not ever taking for granted his happy, easy going temperament...since the chances that his future brother or sister will follow suit are slim. His 4 month well check and vaccinations are scheduled for Thursday- so I'll post his stats then. Here's a few things that I want to remember about Cy at 4 months...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We're on a roll! He has tumbled from back to side and from belly to back a couple times in the last few days!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I LOVE it when Cy is startled and just before he starts to cry he looks at me for reassurance. As soon and I tell him, "It's okay" and smile he starts to laugh. One of those truly priceless moments!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sitting up like a champ...with a little assistance from his boppy pillow. Loves hanging out in his Bumbo. Doesn't enjoy his bouncy seat as much these days...because he fights to sit up. Working on those abs of steel.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When our boy smiles...he smiles with his entire body! Squishing up his nose, raising his shoulders, hands to his mouth, knees to his chest- it's adorable! Cy has the sweetest little giggle...loves to laugh at his own jokes :P
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He is sleeping 11-12 hours a night...usually going to bed between 8 & 9 pm and waking between 7:30 & 8:00 am! He takes 3-4 naps a day for 1-1.5 hours a piece. Sleeps with both hands behind his head...the picture of complete relaxation!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cy has been experimenting with the volume of his sweet voice...he can get pretty rowdy when he talks about something that he's especially passionate about :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One word...DROOL! His cheeks, chin, hands, neck & shirt are wet most of the time. Those fingers are oh, so tasty!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Only a fan of his paci when falling to sleep...otherwise, he prefers his fist or thumb.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A bit of a couch potato...will fall into a TV trance- especially when watching the big screen with Gramps.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And FYI...don't hold this boy like a baby...he's a big boy! Wants to be sitting up or standing when he's awake.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Oh, and he is often stricken with a terribly persistent cough...self-induced, of course. He thinks it's hilarious!
Mom and I enjoyed a weekend in Dallas filled with fun, friends and as much shopping as Cy would tolerate! We were able to spend Saturday morning with my dear friends, Ashly and Patsy, see Ashly's sweet daughters, Kelly and Maggie, and meet her handsome son, John, who was born just one week after Cy. Love & miss you guys!
Somehow, a midst all of the newborn pictures that were taken, we neglected to get a shot of Cy's sweet little naked bottom. So here he is...rolls, chunky thighs and all... I LOVE IT!
Cy's Halloween outfit was delivered yesterday, so we had to have a dress rehearsal...so cute!!!
I love Pete! (my Peter Cottontail lovie, that is)...
Thankful Thursday!
Today I am remided of just how blessed I am and am filled with an abundance of gratitude and love for my boys! At this moment, I have everything that I have ever wanted. A wonderful husband who loves me completely- I am a better person because of this amazing man. A son, who has brought more joy & fulfillment to my world than I could have ever imagined. All I have ever truly desired is to be a godly wife and mother. And having the priviledge & opportunity to stay home with Cy as I strive deligently to bring him up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Impromptu Photo Shoot...
Poor Cy...our son has had a camera pointed in his direction since the day he was born. I can't resist...he's just so handsome! Here's a few of the photos that were captured this afternoon.
I love it when he squishes up his little nose...too cute!
And yes, Carrie...our sweet fella does cry -just not very often! He's a very happy baby most of the time. Here's one of those not-so-happy moments...
Boys will be Boys...
Travis enjoyed an outdoor adventure trip with the boys over Labor Day weekend. He, Kevin & Mike packed up their gear and headed into the Pecos Wilderness near Santa Fe. They hiked, camped, fished....and relished in the abundance of testosterone pumping through their veins- agh, agh, agh!
...And here is Travis and Kevin showing off their catch in a fishing tournament that they teamed up for on Monday. I'm a good wife who accumulated some substantial brownie points over the weekend!
