Well, it happened...just as so many wise parents that have come before me said that it would. One year ago, we welcomed our precious Cy Wesley into this world and here I sit one year later amazed by how much joy our son has brought to our lives, by how very much that life has changed and yet how quickly the months have passed. Travis and I are so very thankful that God chose us to love, shepherd & guide this sweet baby boy! Here are a few new things that Cy is doing at ONE YEAR OLD!!!
He's WALKING!!! Yes, I can now proudly declare him a walker. Cy can put together 7-8 steps at a time and is opting to walk rather than crawl more and more every day. He's still a bit wobbly, but gaining confidence by the minute.
Loves to give mom a hand: turning off and on light switches, unloading the dishwasher, scoping out the refrigerator, opening and closing cabinet doors, reorganizing shelves...such a good little helper! So much to discover...so little time.
Enjoys leafing through books by himself. He will spend 20 minutes alone in his room pulling all of his books off of the bookshelf and looking through them. Hopefully, this will translate into a love of reading as a child and adult.
Has a grand total of 8 teeth- upper & lower centrals and laterals.
We've started mixing whole milk in with his formula. Cy takes 3- 6 oz bottles a day at breakfast, lunch & dinner. Has a sippy cup of water or juice with meals which he holds by himself.
Have transitioned completely to table food. Some of his favorites are bean burritos, turkey wienies, green beans, mash potatoes, mac & cheese, grilled chicken, bananas, peaches and strawberries. He has actually been quite the trooper when trying new foods...is not always a fan on the first try, but by the second or third attempt, he eats like a champ.
Still takes 2 naps a day...and I will guard those naps as long as I can! Goes down for AM Nap between 9:30-10:00 & usually sleeps 1-1.5 hours. Then takes a 1.5-2 hour nap in that afternoon around 1:30-2:00. Bedtime is between 7:30 & 8 pm & he wakes up around 7 am.
He is becoming socially savvy & such a sweetie! Loves to give kisses, can 'high five' & waves bye-bye on a consistent basis (that one took us a while).
All in all, he has & continues to bless our lives in more ways than we could have possibly imagined and we couldn't love him more! HapPy BirTHdAy, Cy WEslEy!!!

Happy Birthday, Cy! It is so hard for me to believe that about 10 1/2 months from now Charlotte will be doing all of those things! They learn SO much that first year.
