Big Boy Bed...

Cy has spent 2 nights in his big boy bed and is...well, adjusting. Our challenges lie in the form of an extra early wake-up time (6:30-7 am. He normally wakes between 8 & 8:30), and waking a few times throughout the night in need of some assistance falling back to sleep. We also encountered obstacles during nap time yesterday, namely, Cy not wanting to stay in bed. Jotting over to the bookshelf for a bit of light reading was just too tempting! Travis and I installed bed rails last night in hopes making his bed feel a bit more enclosed and providing a slight deterrent to his escape. Keeping our fingers crossed that the newness of the transition wears off quickly and that our good sleeper falls back in step with his normal routine soon.





2/1/11: Update- After 2 nights of waking about every 2 hours or so and needing assistance from Momma to get back to sleep, the 2nd day of getting a less than desirable nap because Cy either would not stay in his bed (despite several spankings), or refused to fall asleep, and following talks with so many of my friends who chimed in via fb & email to share their opinion on transitioning Cy to a big bed...I've decided that we will leave Cy in his crib, for the foreseeable future, for a few reasons: #1) He has yet to attempt an escape, #2) He sleeps really well in his crib (& so does mom), #3) Many of my friends left their kiddos in their cribs well past their 2nd birthdays, #4) We will give it another try once Lila is sleeping a bit longer at night, & #5) I will enjoy having Cy contained for the first few months of living in our new house while the newness of the stairs wears off. And yes, I'm aware that this was a brief & somewhat pitiful attempt. ;)
